To be part of your team as you move through the various stages of your
Hollywood career. We want to help you develop your materials, promote
your work, and to be satisfied (thrilled, in fact) with the results
from using our services. When you become a Smart Girls client, you create
your own, personal promotion team. We want to share your successes and
be proud that we could contribute to them. We value you--you are our
business.
Dr. Melody Jackson, CEO & founder of Smart Girls, is ranked as
one of the Top 5 Script Analysts in the country and "Highly Recommended"
by Creative Screenwriting, which also recommends Smart Girls Marketing
Services. Melody has produced one short movie and one documentary and
her articles and interviews have been published in scr(i)pt
magazine, Creative
Screenwriting, the Television Academy's Emmy
Magazine, Screenwriter
Magazine, and the Hollywood
Scriptwriter, among other publications.
Prior to starting Smart Girls in February of 1992, Melody Jackson
was a highly successful sales and marketing specialist, offering customized
distribution revenue tracking software to the film industry.
Melody founded Smart Girls in 1992, fulfilling her dream of owning her
own business. Using her knowledge of the film industry, marketing, and
computers, she designed her own systems for tracking "who's who"
data that would contribute to promoting herself, her company, and the
most important people of all, her clients.
Melody has received lots of attention for her work and has been invited
to speak at a number of prestigious events. Her coaching for her clients
has resulted in major shifts in how they see themselves and what is
possible for their careers.
Creative Screenwriting, one of the largest and most prestigious national
publications for screenwriters, ranked Melody as one of the Top 5 Script
Analysts in the country and also recommended Smart Girls Marketing Services.
Melody's articles have appeared in scr(i)pt magazine, Hollywood Scriptwriter,
and How To Master the Art of Cold Reading.
As a member of SAG, AFTRA, IFPwest, and LACMA, (Visit
our resources section for links to these
organizations), Melody has produced one featurette (High Hopes
-- which she wrote and starred in), and one documentary video (From
Mother Earth to Father Heaven). She has been hired to write other feature
scripts and offered many assignments.
She was interviewed for her marketing expertise by Emmy Magazine, a
publication of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Once a month
Melody participates as a co-host of the monthly Hollywood Networking
Breakfast at Paramount Studios, sponsored by Changing Images in America.
As an active public speaker and success and creativity coach Melody
also provides seminars, audiotapes and CDs for the entertainment industry,
corporations, and the general public on how mythic principles and ideas
can enrich your life and your creativity.
Melody Jackson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science
from Ball State University (with a minor in business and dance) and
has completed her Ph.D. in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate
Institute in Carpinteria, California.
Having completed her Ph.D., Melody is in the process of completing
the book titled "The Mythic Power of Film," in which she identifies
four dimensions through which film creates its deep impact. The book
explores on a deep psychological, cultural, and mythological level why
we love the movies, why they mean so much to us, and how they ultimately
get us in touch with the deepest part of ourselves. This book is relevant
for both individuals who love the movies and for film industry professionals
who wish to have a fresh, new, in-depth mythological perspective on
why audiences respond to films as they do. Melody is also a personal
development, success, and creativity coach guiding individuals to their
fullest self-expression, creativity, and personal power.
