Bio on Melody Jackson
Founder & Chief Exec of Smart
Girls Productions, Inc.
Prior to starting Smart Girls in February of 1992, Melody
Jackson was a highly successful
sales and marketing offering specialized accounting software to the film
industry for tracking film distribution revenues. Calling it quits in
that world, she founded Smart Girls Productions, began marketing the services, and
never looked back. Since then Smart Girls
has grown every year and continues
to be a top marketing, consulting, and motivational force for actors and
screenwriters.
Creative Screenwriting, one of the largest and most
prestigious national publications for screenwriters, ranked Melody as one of the Top 5
Script Analysts in the country and also recommended Smart Girls Marketing Services.
Melody writes, produces and acts, having produced one short movie titled "High
Hopes," which she wrote and starred in, and one documentary video "From Mother
Earth to Father Heaven." She has been hired to write two feature scripts and
offered many other assignments. A member of SAG, AFTRA, IFPwest, and LACMA, her
articles have appeared in scr(i)pt magazine, Hollywood Scriptwriter,
and How To Master the Art of Cold Reading. She was recently interviewed for
her marketing expertise by Emmy Magazine, a publication of the Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences. Once a month Melody participates as a co-host of the
monthly Hollywood Networking Breakfast at Paramount Studios, sponsored by Changing Images
in America. Smart Girls is an ongoing sponsor of the annual Roy E. Dean Film &
Video Grant.
On track to complete her Ph.D. in
Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute
in the spring of 2003, Melody's 200+ page dissertation
explores "The Deep Story: The
Mythic Impact of Film." She is an active
public speaker and success and creativity coach and also provides seminars and audiotapes
and CDs for the entertainment industry,
corporations, and the general public on how mythic principles and ideas
can enrich your life and your creativity.
More Background Info
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from
Ball State University and minor in business and dance, along
with several years of
experience in sales and marketing with small, medium, and
Fortune 500 companies, Melody Jackson began Smart Girls
to fulfill the dream she had had of owning her own business. Using her knowledge in the areas of film, marketing, and
computers, she designed systems to track enormous amounts of who's who information that
would contribute to promoting herself and her clients.
Since that time, she has received lots of attention for her work and has been
invited to speak at a number of prestigious events. Her coaching for her clients
has resulted in major shifts in how they see themselves and what is possible for
their careers.
